Aachi London specifies vegetable-tanned calf leather produced in France. Unlike industrial chrome tanning, vegetable tanning uses natural tannins extracted from tree bark, leaves, and plant matter — a method refined over centuries in European tanneries renowned for luxury maisons.

Beamhouse preparation
Hides are cleaned, soaked, and prepared so the grain can accept tannins evenly. This stage sets the leather’s future softness, resilience, and clarity of surface.

Plant-based tannin baths
Instead of chromium salts, French vegetable tanning relies on tannins from chestnut, mimosa, oak, and related botanical sources. Hides rest in successive baths — a deliberate, multi-week rhythm.

Time & transformation
Vegetable tanning can take several weeks. The leather slowly gains body, a warm natural tone, and the ability to develop a patina. Speed is never the goal; character is.

Drying, staking & finishing
Air-drying, mechanical staking for suppleness, and careful finishing bring the leather to maison specification — ready for cutting, skiving, and hand assembly into Aachi silhouettes.

Finished vegetable-tanned calf is paired with python-textured accents, black nappa lining, and gilt hardware. Each bag carries a unique product code — from Asel to Sophie.
